Fremont residents have ample ways to give back to their community, thanks to an array of local volunteer programs.

 

Age Well Centers are seeking volunteers for office work, kitchen assistance, front desk duties, and gardening class leaders.

 

If you’re passionate about animals, the Fremont Animal Shelter welcomes helpers to care for animals, perform preparations, and handle office tasks—volunteers must be at least 18 and commit to two hours weekly for six months.

 

The Fremont Fire Department engages volunteers in roles from emergency response teams to administrative and rehabilitation support.

 

At the Police Department, positions range from youth programs to services supporting seniors and homebound residents.

 

Residents can pitch in at community and environmental events such as Coastal Cleanup Day and the Adopt-A-Drain Program.

 

Volunteering on city boards and committees offers a voice in policy decisions.

Fremont's Holiday Season Sparkles with Festive Events

The holiday season in Fremont sparkled with festive gatherings, uniting neighbors and visitors in joyful celebration.

 

On December 5, the city’s Downtown Event Center Plaza hosted the 2nd Annual Holidays at the Plaza, featuring a dazzling tree lighting, a lively market, and a playful visit from the Grinch.

 

That same evening, Fremont Hub enchanted families with its "Holiday Snow Magic" event, including faux snow, a giant snow globe, and visits with Santa Claus.

 

Nearby in Sunnyvale, the Fremont High School Holiday Craft Faire on December 6 and 7 offered unique, handcrafted gifts by local artisans.

 

December 13 brought the "Sleigh the Day" Holiday Flea Market to Ohlone College, blending shopping fun with a Cars and Coffee meet.

 

On December 20, the Holiday Toy Drive & Winter Celebration ensured every child received a gift, warm meal, and cherished memories.

 

Residents should note city offices close for the holidays from December 24, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
